10U PONY Nationals Opening Ceremonies Hosted by Midway Girls Softball
Come one, come all.....to the 2010 Midway Carnival Opening Ceremonies!
This year’s festivities begin at 4:00 PM on Monday July 5, 2010, and will be held at Midway’s Complex located at 3300 Millcreek Road in Wilmington, DE. All teams are invited to come in CARNIVAL-themed costume, some ideas include clowns, oddities such as bearded lady or strong man, big top/circus characters including ringmaster, trapeze or acrobat artists, magicians, tight rope walkers, lion/elephant/tiger trainers, or basically anything COLORFUL!!
The Opening Ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 with a big but brief welcome from the Midway organization and a local government representative. Then the parade of champions will kick in, with each team introduced while strutting their stuff to their favorite team song. Get into the spirit of Carnival!
This year’s food will again be provided by 2Fat Guys American Grill (voted Best of Delaware in Delaware Today; visit www.2fatguys.net)! The food lines will open at 5:00 PM and each team will be assigned a time to help keep things moving. Kids meals for players will include choice of hamburger or chicken fingers and french fries and will also include a beverage. 2Fat Guys will be on hand to provide additional vending from 4:00 to 7:00 pm with food options of chicken, burgers, hot dogs, fries, bratwurst and more! Back by popular demand is US Olympic Gold Medalist Dionna Harris who will be our special guest speaker at 5:30 PM. Ms. Harris will be on hand the remainder of the night for pictures and to show off her 1996 USA Softball team Gold Medal. All the girls are most impressed by the size and weight of the medal when it is placed around their necks. Be sure to have your camera ready!
Additional entertainment will be available throughout the event, including DJ’ed music and games as well as inflatable FUN. Jump in the giant red castle bounce house, race through the 65’ obstacle course filled with pylons, tunnels, climbing wall and slide, or take a shot at dunking your coach or others in the dunk tank. Cool softball clothes and tournament tshirts will also be available at Opening Ceremonies and throughout Nationals week, including the latest in awesome tie dye tees and sweats from LZTs.
The Midway Carnival will kick off the greatest Nationals on earth, so don’t miss it!
