Why are we selling raffle tickets?
The McKenzie Travis Educational Foundation was established to financially aid female athletes playing fastpitch in college.
In order to be able to award these scholarships, the foundation holds a raffle. They raffle a 2010 Camaro along with eight $2,500 cash prizes. The remainder of the funds from the 2009 raffle will be awarded this summer to 20 girls- $2,500 each. With this 2010 raffle they will be awarding 30 scholarships next summer.
This raffle is also a major fundraiser for many softball teams and leagues throughout the area. For each $20 ticket you sell, your organization keeps $15 and sends back $5 to the foundation. This helps your organization with all the costs associated with running your league and maintaining your fields. Midway Girls Softball has not raise your registration fee in several years and this is a way making up the difference in the rising costs of insurance, field maintenance, equipment, etc.
By selling these tickets, it now qualifies any high school seniors in your league to apply for one of the scholarships next year.
Since this is an educational foundation, all of the $20 is tax deductible to the purchaser.
